Lit Event Roundup
NEWS
And we're back. The Open Stanza last week set us once again in motion. Thanks as always to everyone who came down (and boogied!).
There's a lot on the horizon to watch for, and since we're in the Netherlands, the horizon isn't very far away. This Saturday kicks off the reading period for Versal 6. Get acquainted with our submission guidelines and send us your very best between September 15 and January 15. And next week, join us at The English Bookshop for the first of The Writers Workshop Open Days (keep reading for complete details).
Fall into your writing like never before. Writing workshops are a great way to finish that hiccuping poem, overcome writer's block, final reel in that rogue character, meet other writers, share your work, and get feedback from practicing writers and peers!
Come down to one of the Open Days to find out more about the workshops and the philosophy behind them, meet the teachers, and register! Workshops are held at The English Bookshop, are taught by practicing, published writers, and are kept small so that everyone gets a lot out of them. And what's more, they're affordable!
Open Days

Curator and Versal Fiction Editor Kai Lashley has had his short story "Breach" published in the Autumn edition of Flashquake. Some of you might have heard Kai perform this piece at an Open Stanza a few years ago. Fantastic work, Kai! Congratulations.
Versal's Art Editor Mirabai de Monchy and her husband, Versal cover designer and wordsinhere designer extraordinaire Joris, welcomed their new daughter into the world this evening. We're super excited to have a new addition to the family! Can't wait to meet her.
Versal Contributing Editor Laura L. Chalar launched her latest book last month: The Discreet Charm of the Legal Profession. "Through fifteen short stories that combine deep observation skills with unexpected flights into fantasy, Laura Chalar paints a lucid and ironic portrait of contemporary Montevidean society."
