Letter from Here

Before welcoming you to the newsletter, we want to share with you that The Open Stanza this coming Thursday is packed to please, with a whole hit crew headed over from Berlin, and the highly acclaimed musician Signe Tollefsen, she of the mellifluous voice. Five euros to say you saw her when. Come. Hear. Enjoy. We've been working on this show for months. Read more below.

And now the news. Despite the lack of evidence, we'll put winter behind us this month and head into spring, no looking back. We noticed that today at 18.30 hundred hours, it was still light outside!

There are still spots open for the upcoming Short Fiction and Novel workshops. Registration deadline is 23 March. Be sure to encourage your write side this Spring!

In February we had a wonderful visit from friends Jennifer Dick and Joe Ross from Paris who came to perform at The Open Stanza. This month, this coming week in fact, we have members of the Bordercrossing Berlin crew & family coming to grace our stage and fair city. Please come and meet our guests from afar. They're coming to have a beer and make new friends, not to mention give goose bumps with rousing wordsmith.

Two main bits of activity on the wordsinhere front; we’ve rolled up our sleeves, agonized over the hundreds and hundreds, thousands, of fantastic pieces of writing and art that we received for Versal V, and made a selection after hours of editorial deliberations. The next step is to put it all together to make the magic of the actual mag, fit it to the page.

Other news from the house: congratulations to Prue Duggan for placing two pieces in the Winter 2007 edition of the Bourdeaux-based Louis Liard Magazine, Robert Glick for a Pushcart nomination this winter for his poem "Extrapolating A Corpse", and Cralan Kelder for placing a poem in 88: A Journal of Contemporary American Poetry.
