NEWS
This Friday, 9 February is the first deadline for workshop registrations. To join the workshops in creative writing, screenwriting, or poetry, please send us your form by Friday. You can download the form here: http://www.wordsinhere.com/workshopsignup_spring07.doc.
Commit to your writing life! These workshops are small-group, weekly sessions led by practicing and published writers. Workshops take your writing as the starting point, aiming to develop your writing through your own writing strengths, vision, and voice. The Writer's Workshop also connects you to a vibrant, international community of writers based here in Amsterdam. Even if you're the reclusive writer type, it's nice to get out once in awhile and share your brilliance.
So be sure to check out the workshop offerings and sign up before it's too late! Spots are going fast!
Paris seems to have always been a magnet for writers, with its romantic street corners, cafes, and impressive literary history. Today, it continues to be home to a range of successful and up-and-coming writers, and we've convinced a few of them to come over and strut their stuff in Amsterdam.
Visiting us from their Parisian home this Thursday, 8 February: poets Jennifer K. Dick (USA) and Joe Ross (USA), alongside local writers Karlijn Groet (NL) and Dipika Mukherjee (IND), and the musical antics of sin-sin (IRL). DJ Sudomodo is back from New Zealand and will be spinning the decks once again. Not to mention Amsterdam's most engaging emcee Prue Duggan. So grab your lover, your partner, your friend, and/or your notebook and come down to the Sugar Factory for Amsterdam's best night of international meters.
In case you hadn't heard, Cralan and his wife Toby had a beautiful baby girl on January 11. Her name is Fern and we're all very excited to welcome this new poet to our team.
And this month we're bidding a sad but temporary farewell to Kai, who is on his way to South America for a three month adventure. We wish you all the best on your journey, Kai, and look forward to your return in May!
