NEWS
A special treat at this month's Salon des Mots: we're working with Poezie Circus to send waves of poetry through the streets of Utrecht that will be felt for weeks to come. The pace of Poezie Circus mixed with the world of des Mots — this will be a night not to miss.
Salon des Mots presents C. Buddingh Prize-winner Liesbeth Lagemaat (to be seen this June at Poetry International), Liberian storyteller Bright Omansa Richards accompanied by sound artist Jan Schellink, Leon Dekker, and music from Signe Tollefsen.
Thursday, 13 April at 8pm — the meters begin.
On Monday, 3 April, Versal Four was handed over to our new printer, Pantheon Drukkers. Between now and 7 May — when Versal Four is officially released at the season finale of The Open Stanza — Pantheon Drukkers will keep Versal safe & sound...and get it on the page.
Versal Four will include new writing from Robert Bohm, Helen Degen Cohen, Rob McClure Smith, Joseph Radke, Daphne Rock, Aleida Rodríguez, Chad Simpson, Jay Snodgrass, and Mark Terrill. Versal Four also features contemporary Uruguayan poetry translated from the Spanish by Uruguayan poet Laura L. Chalar and is the first edition to include a wide range of fiction alongside the poetry. Many local writers are also presented, including Jennifer Arcuni (USA), Claudia Daventry (UK), Robert Glick (USA), Heidi Hellmuth (USA), Bernice McNaulty (UK), and Joel H. Vega (Philippines).
Versal Four will on sale at the Release Party for a special release price. For more information about the Release, go here...
The Writing Workshops Spring program is off to a roaring start! Registrations for the regular program are now closed and the courses are well into their second weeks.
If you'd like to jumpstart your writing life, check out a new workshop on offer, which we're organizing as part of this year's Amsterdam Literary Festival: Matthew Curlewis will be leading a workshop called 'How to be a Live Writer'. Visit the ALF site for details and to register.
Also coming soon: poetry workshops!
This year's Amsterdam Literary Festival is nothing short of stunning.
Award-winning and list-topping writers Sarah Waters, David Mitchell, and Kate Adie are headlining the program — and that's not even half of it!
ALF is also pleased to present Mervyn Peake's son, Sebastian Peake, who will be talking about the work of his late father, author of the Gormenghast trilogy and illustrator of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and other children's books.
There's a growing lineup of workshops on offer, such as Matthew Curlewis' 'How to be a Live Writer', and a panel on publishing.
ALF will close this amazing program on Sunday, 21 May with US poet Joanna Klink, who will be visiting all the way from the University of Montana, which houses one of the US's premier MFA programs.
Megan has just had three poems accepted by British publication Tears in the Fence (that's 'tear' as in 'rip', not 'crying'). These pieces will be included in Fence 44, due out late summer 2006.
