WAX WORDSINHERE THIS SPRING
I want to let you know about some exciting things coming up in the life & times of wordsinhere - spring won't be bringing just the sun back to the Netherlands. It's coming with a lot of prosody as well. What does that mean to you? Well, the end result should be you with a new poem or three, a freshly inked story, or even a novel and a half at the publishers. We aim to inspire, after all. Here's a sampling of what spring will bring:
— This year, wordsinhere is expanding its program to Utrecht. Curator Anna Arov invites those who are interested in building spaces for the international(ly minded) writer in Utrecht to contact her at anna@wordsinhere.com (be sure to remove "DELETE_THIS" from the address). We're looking into producing events, writing groups, and more. beINvolved!
— April will begin our inaugural Poetry Master Class. Tailored for both beginner and experienced poets, this three-part series will explore the major aspects of writing poetry, from the first line to the stage performance. More information coming soon!
— Versal Three is on its way! As we speak, poetry & prose from as far away as Australia and as close by as the Jordaan are being pixelized by designer Daniel Baars. With new writing from Naomi Shihab Nye, Marilyn Hacker, Russell Edson, and more, you won't want to miss this edition. (And be sure not to miss out on history either! We still have some copies of Versal Two left, so if you're among the few without a home copy, buy yours today!)
— 26 May - 29 May: BritLit, Waterstone's Booksellers, and wordsinhere present the Amsterdam Literary Festival 2005 (better known as ALF). And it's quirky, just like the alien. Want to have high tea with an author? Relax in a canal boat and hear a story? Take an exclusive tour through the local writing scene? Keep up with developments here.
— And, we have a little secret. We won't tell you what it is just yet, but block off 17 April on your calendar!
Keep writing,
M
NEWS
American letters have put their money on this month’s feature poet Jeffrey McDaniel. With success on both the stage and the page, McDaniel is the personified bridge between two seemingly disparate poetic forms: slam and poetry in publication. Read more...

CALLS FOR WRITERS
If you're in Turkey this summer, we've gotten word that there are a few writing courses you can join with poet Jackie Kay (June 20th-27th) and novelist/poet Julia Darling (June 13th-20th).
Courses will be run on very similar lines to the Arvon Foundation but in the sun on the beautiful coast of the Turkish Bodrum peninsular.
There is still some availability on most of the courses and we are offering a limited special reduction. Bring a friend and you will each receive a 10% reduction in the cost of the course, so that instead of £350 the course will cost £320. This offer is limited until March 22nd.
