The Open Stanza: Now on the First Sunday

theopenstanza.wordsinhere.com

The Open Stanza has moved to the first Sunday of the month at Nachttheater Sugar Factory. So the next show will be THIS SUNDAY, 5 FEBRUARY. But no worries: nothing else has changed.

Wait...that's a lie. This month, we've got a special treat for you. See, over the years, we've met some pretty incredible people, and every time we meet someone really cool we - as you might expect - get them performing on stage as soon as possible.

Well, we had an idea. Why not take it one step further? You've seen her on stage - guitar in hand - throughout The Open Stanza's lifetime, you've rocked out to her tunes, and if you are tuned in to the global music scene, you'll know she's the next big thing in your stereo speakers. Now, your favorite local lyricist hipster is going to take the mic on Sunday night and emcee us in true Stanza style. That's right: Rina Mushonga is this month's guest Emcee. Don't miss this!

The Writing Workshops: Spring Program Coming Soon

workshops.wordsinhere.com

This year, wordsinhere and The English Bookshop will continue to offer a diverse literary workshop program for your writing life.

Poets, short story writers, novelists, and folks moving between genres can all find something this spring to suit your needs. A new feature of The Writing Workshops will be our multi-week workshops. Did you enjoy the Saturday you spent last Fall talking about novel-writing? How about a concentrated multi-week course to give your plot a boost, or get past that sticky chapter 6?

Details coming soon. Keep in touch via our site or this newsletter. If you want to be notified directly about The Writing Workshops spring program, email us at workshops@wordsinhere.com.

This Month in the Life of Versal

versal.wordsinhere.com

It's been a big year for Versal. A write-up in Poets & Writers, a fantastic reading in Paris, new subscribers like Harvard and NYC libraries, and sales in more bookstores than ever before. In fact, we just received word from our distributor in Nashville, Tennessee that the Borders bookstore there is nearly sold out of Versal 2 AND 3! Are you still among the few in this world without your very own copy? Solve that problem right here (and support healthy and happy literary publishing while you're at it).

Versal also welcomes two new team members: Joris de Monchy and Pip Farquharson, who are Versal's new design and layout gurus.

We had more submissions this year than ever. You can still catch your trusty Versal editors in cafes around Amsterdam reading intensely. Now that the submission window has been closed, we're moving towards Versal 4 at lightning speed, with the expected release date sometime late April. Get your copy of Versal 2 and 3 now, before they're sold out! They don't have expiration dates; they only age, like fine wine.

News From the House

Megan and Annerie returned tanned and rested from their two month journey through Australia, Fiji, and the USA. In fact, they're still not entirely back with us. After a week in NYC not seeing the light of day, they were a bit off-kilter when they came back. They even tried to order a pizza after 10:30pm! Silly Americans (and Dutch who hook up with Americans).

And it looks to be a good year for Curator Robert Glick. He has been published in the literary journal Triplopia. A short memoir piece of his will also be published in the book "Travelers' Tales Prague and the Czech Republic: True Stories" in March. Pre-order on Amazon.
